(she/her)

I am grateful to live, work, play and contribute to this research team from the beautiful and sacred traditional lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən people, the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. I join the Anew team as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a human who has lived through cancer as a young adult.

Over the past 13 years, I have professionally supported young adults impacted by cancer while working with the Canadian Cancer Society, InspireHealth Supportive Cancer Care, Young Adult Cancer Canada, and now in my private counselling practice. Through my professional and personal background, I know the young adult cancer experience needs to be better understood and supported. Creativity and mindfulness are vital in my process of supporting others and in understanding my own history. I have explored cancer through many modalities including theatre, film, visual arts, creative writing, and mindfulness.

Self-care is integral to my experience of being human and providing care to others. I cultivate care for myself with movement, meditation, and music.

I also like to celebrate life by hosting dinner parties with my beloved husband, Ole, and our rapscallion cat, Gus.

Gus makes a tuna casserole, Ole picks the playlist, and I decorate by hanging strange things from the ceiling (teacups, unicorns, branches... you name it).
