Professor of Applied Performance
(she/her)

I am a Professor of Applied Performance at the University of Leeds in the UK. Within the broad field of applied theatre my expertise lies in exploring performance as a means of facilitating social agency, engagement and expression. My research is concerned with different forms of participation across a range of contexts and investigates how participatory practices are mobilised as embodied tools for engaging with and problematising processes of research, resistance and representation.

I have been collaborating with colleagues in Anew for a number of years now, bringing my knowledge of applied performance and participatory practice to the  world of AYA cancer both in Canada and in the UK. After my own cancer diagnosis in 2017, a lot of my work has been situated at the intersection between arts, health and well being.

I love the outdoors and enjoy nothing more than connecting to nature, taking mini breaks in our camper van with my husband and two whippets, Herbie and Chloe. I am training to be a yoga teacher and am try to incorporate this teaching into my professional work wherever I can.
